A must-see event of the FCP, this short film competition offers for the sixth consecutive year a variety of fiction, documentary and animation shorts. In order to promote professional Palestinian cinematic creations as well as the work of students, the selection unveils six short films made by Palestinians directors, competing for jury and audience awards. THE SEVEN VILLAGES Czech Republic, Lebanon | 2020 | 17 min A video conversation between Farah, who recently moved to Prague, and her grandmother, living in Lebanon, recalls their fate as Palestinian refugees who were granted the Lebanese citizenship in 1994. The two women, from different generations, touch on topics that are filled with emotions, memories and hope. NIGHT Germany, Qatar, Jordan, Palestine | 2021 | 16 min Night has to trick the mother of a missing child into sleeping to save her soul. BY THE SEA Palestine | 2022 | 12 min Struggling with both the occupation and the pandemic, a woman left alone with her son insists on having a semblance of normalcy by baking a cake to mark a special occasion. This film is an original take on a woman’s fight to keep her family together under unusual circumstances and against all odds. HEADCOUNT Palestine | 2020 | 14 min A Palestinian prisoner is thrown into solitary confinement in Israeli prison; his only source of daily human interaction is when the prison guards sound for roll call. Struggling to keep track of the time passing him by, the prisoner begins to unravel. After a period of time, a cockroach enters his cell, becoming his only source of solace. BOREKAS Palestine | 2020 | 15 min A father gives his son a ride to the airport. The car breaks down on the way. SIRI MIRI Palestine | 2021 | 6 min Out of boredom, two Palestinian teens ask Siri, a Virtual Assistant, for help. Will it work?
