Born April 9, 1936 in Acre, Palestine, and died July 8, 1972 in Beirut, Lebanon, Ghassan Kanafani was a Palestinian writer and politician. On the literary level, he is known for his prolific work relating to the Palestinian cause, the most emblematic of which is: "Return to Haifa". Politically, he is known to be an important member of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP). On July 8, 1972, he was assassinated along with his 17-year-old niece Lamis by the Israeli intelligence service Mossad1.
