Holidays in Palestine

France, Palestine | 2024 | 59 min | Documentary Shadi, a thirty-year-old Palestinian activist who has become a French citizen, returns to his village in Palestine for a holiday in the hope of resettling there. As the days go by, he has to face up to the expectations of those around him. His mother wants him to get married in the village and his brother, a former political prisoner, seems to have a score to settle with him… As the Israeli settlement on the opposite hill chokes the village and attracts Palestinian labour to its construction sites, Shadi’s return turns into disillusionment… A film by Maxime Lindon Maxime Lindon is a screenwriter, director, and producer based in Marseille, France. After starting out as a screenwriter for television (Elephant Prod, Lizland Films), Maxime moved on to creation by directing two self-financed short fiction films, “Swing” and “Lutto”. He then directed the feature-length documentary “Holidays in Palestine” (2024), which was selected at the Cairo International Film Festival, and is now in post-production of the short fiction film “Last Nights, First Days”, co-directed with Julien Darras.
