Opening of FCP Marseille 2024 - Tribute to Gaza - Screening & Discussion

In response to current events, the Festival Ciné-Palestine opens this year's edition with a tribute to Gaza. This tribute aims to denounce the persistent violence that has struck the Gaza Strip since the blockade began in 2007, accentuated by the unprecedented genocide committed against its population since October 2023. Two films will open the event in Marseille on May 30: “Offing” by Oraib Toukan and “The Roller, the Life, the Fight” by Elettra Bisogno and Hazem Alqaddi. Screening followed by a discussion with Oraib Toukan (director), Elettra Bisogno and Hazem Alqaddi (directors) Offing by Oraib Toukan Germany | 2021 | 28 min | Experimental “Offing” offers a series of reflections on war and the media in the aftermath of the Israeli attack on Gaza in 2021. The Roller, the Life, the Fight by Elettra Bisogno and Hazem Alqaddi Belgium | 2024 | 85 min | Documentary Hazem arrives in Belgium after a painful journey from Gaza. Elettra arrives in Brussels to study documentary film. Their first moments together trigger the desire to know each other and the camera becomes the tool they share for understanding. Exiles and inner migrations find a way to just and softened gazes.
