Palestine | 2020 | 14 min | Fiction A Palestinian prisoner is thrown into solitary confinement in Israeli prison; his only source of daily human interaction is when the prison guards sound for roll call. Struggling to keep track of the time passing him by, the prisoner begins to unravel. After a period of time, a cockroach enters his cell, becoming his only source of solace. A film by Akram Al-Waara Akram Al-Waara is a young Palestinian filmmaker based in Bethlehem, born and raised in the Aida Refugee Camp, a place where he draws much of his inspiration for his films. Akram is a graduate of the Dar Al-Kalima University in Bethlehem, and has since directed and written several short films, including a documentary called Night in the Camp, and Headcount. Akram recently worked on the production teams of the upcoming films Father & Daughter by Majdi El-Omari, Salon Huda by Hani Abu Assad, and Kazoz by Amira Diab.
