The Dupes

Syria | 1972 | 1h44 | Fiction The Dupes is a striking film of magnificent black-and-white images, tracing the destinies of 3 Palestinian refugees brought together by dispossession, distress and the hope of a better future. Set in Iraq in the 1950s, the protagonists hide in the tank of a truck as they try to cross the border to Kuwait, the "promised land". A masterful adaptation of Ghassan Kanafani's critically acclaimed short story Des Hommes dans le soleil, Les Dupes is also one of the first Arab films to tackle the difficult situation of the Palestinians. A film by Tawfik Saleh
