Maqloubeh

Palestine | 2012 | 10 min | Fiction Five young students from different backgrounds live together in Ramallah. Blocked in their apartment by bombings and a curfew, they decide to prepare a maqloubeh for lunch, a traditional Levantine dish of vegetables, rice and chicken, which is turned upside down just before serving. Cauliflower or eggplant? While the neighbor comments on the recipe, their families keep calling for news. Just as they are about to sit down to eat, an armed squad enters the apartment and takes them away, handcuffed and gagged. And the maqloubeh? A film by Nicolas Damuni
