Zawaya

Lebanon | 2023 | 17 min | Narrative Siham and her goldfish, Tooteh, are trapped by an oppressive system that lives inside their walls and will soon begin demolishing them. As danger approaches, Siham uses her imagination to process her pain and resist the oppression. A film by Mira Al-Haj Hasan Mira Al-Haj Hasan is a Palestinian-Jordanian multimedia artist and storyteller with a passion for film and theater. She received her BA in Television and Film from the Lebanese American University (LAU) in Beirut, where she wrote and directed two short films and adapted and directed a theatrical play. Her first short film, Domya, won the Semi-Finalist award at Student World Impact Film Festival, and her senior short film, Zawaya, was screened in festivals across Austria, Bangladesh, USA, and soon, France.
